2 great shows :)

I managed to watch 2 fabulous shows over the past few days and they are Charlotte's Web and Clown - The Musical. These 2 shows were just simply great and they made so much of an impact on me that I just have to write about them!

Charlotte's Web - This was my secondary one or two ( I can't remember) literature text. I remember being enchanted by the story (especially by the pig) when I read the book. But as the years went by, I forgot all about the content of the story and only remembered the pig. Not only that, I kept mixing up the stories of Charlotte's Web and Babe that I thought they were the same! But these two stories were instrumental in helping me to discover my fascination with pigs. I felt that pigs were the cutest animals alive, cuter than any dogs or cats because they had eyes that were so irresistably innocent...hahaha

Okay, enough of my fetish with pigs... So I went into the movie theater with absolutely no recollection of what Charlotte's Web was about and was expecting that perhaps the movie wouldn't be that fantastic due to some negative movie reviews about it that I had read... But I was so WRONG...I was so captivated by the movie. The animals were cute and convincing, the storyline was meaningful, the movie had jokes and touching moments which sent me laughing and crying. Oh manz... I never remembered experiencing so much in a movie before. I saw Happy Feet too and that movie was full of slapstick jokes. It sent me laughing but it didn't make that much of an impact on me as this one perhaps due to absence of a strong storyline...

There were two unforgettable moments in this movie for me

1) Wilbur (the pig) was trying to convince Templeton (the rat) that humans love pigs but this was what Templeton said: " Humans don't love pigs, they love pork!"
Ok, even I am guilty of this one. I do love pork...That rat said it so slowly and menacingly to the pig that it made me out to be some heartless pig murderer and I was so thoroughly ashamed! T_T

Anyway, the rat was really a meanie in the show, totally self absorbed with itself.. Totally spoilt the name of rats (of which I am one)!

2) After Charlotte (the spider) spun the last 'miraculous' web with the word 'humble' on it and laid her eggs, she was dying. The last conversation that she had with Wilbur was the one that made me cry... I knew it was totally insane and silly crying over a conversation between a pig and a spider but I just couldn't help it! The words that Charlotte said were so touching... I guess part of it has to be attiributed to the fact that Julia Roberts lended her voice to the spider and her voice was as smooth and comforting as balm :)
I seldom write that much about a movie. It just goes to show how great an impact that this movie has on me... I would strongly recommend it to anyone!

The Clown - A Musical This was a musical that was jointly performed by Katong Presbyterian Church and True Way Presbyterian Church. It was performed at the Victoria Theatre and it was my first time being at that venue watching a play. Even before the play started, I would say that God already performed a miracle. Weather forecasts had predicted that rains would continue at least until Christmas but not only did it stop, the sun came out yesterday and the day before! The weather definitely encouraged many believers and non-believers alike to see the show and allowed the Good news to be spread in a creative way. What really impressed me was the acting and the clear and loud voices of the main characters in the cast (especially the clown!). Not to mention that they danced and sang excellently as well!

The Clown was actually representing the Christians... Because as Christians, more often than not, we are often ridiculed for our faith. Non-believers respect our faith but they don't understand it... As one of the characters in the play said, "
Right! You're a Clown!
People are dying.
Babies are crying.
Politicians are lying.
And here you are saying,"Smile, God loves you!"

Ain that famaliar?? That was what I thought of my Christian friends in the past but now I am also the clown because I truly believe that God loves us, not just me but everyone of us... if only we give Him a chance to. I know its really not easy to comprehend... it can be so easy to be cynical about all these things. After all, there are so many problems in the world. It's all too easy to ask, " If there was a God, why would there still be problems?" But the answer to this question can only be discovered through faith in Jesus Christ and can be answered only by Him and not me.

Oh wow....This was a really long entry. Thanks for putting up with me and my fetish with pigs!! :P
